AYSO Region 512 has a new home!!

We are very excited to announce that we have secured a lease with the Gaines Lions Club for the 20 acre soccer complex.

All practices and games will now be held at the new complex.  It is located in the Village of Gaines on Ray Road, directly behind the Gaines Elementary School.

We will attach a map soon!  In the meantime, if you go to Google Maps, type in Pine Hill Park, Gaines, MI 48436 and it will bring up the map for you.

COACH MEETING

The coach meeting is scheduled for this Saturday, August 15th.  At this time your child's coach will be recieving his or her roster.  You should be getting a call from your coach in the next week or so.

Practices can begin the week of August 24th and games will begin on Saturday, September 12th.  To view your child's schedule, go to the schedule tab located above, click on Fall 2009, then the age division.  You can then click on your child's team number and their schedule will be displayed for you.

We are very excited about this fall season, and look forward to seeing you on the fields!

MEET THE COACH NIGHT

We are planning a meet the coach night for Sunday, August 23rd at 500pm.  Please bring your family, come and see the new soccer fields, and enjoy an ice cream on us!

2009/2010 Registration is now closed.

The deadline for registration has passed.  If you would still like to register your child to play soccer for the upcoming season, please click on the contact us button or call the hotline at 730-2585 with your name, child's name, date of birth, and a phone number.

Your child will be placed on a waitlist and if there is an opening in the appropriate age division, we will contact you within 4 business days to register your child.

The Purple Pixie Vikings congratulate their opponents,
Team Hogan, on a game well played!

WHAT EXACTLY DOES MY REGISTRATI0N FEE COVER??
A "FULL" season in Region 512 is split into two
sub-seasons or half seasons.
The first sub-season of the year is the Fall Season and
the second sub-season is the Spring Season.
Whether your child is registered to play a
FULL season or a HALF of a season,
the registration fee of $75.00 is the same.
If your child played in our Fall Season,
they are AUTOMATICALLY registered to play in
our Spring Season. As you can see, it is cheaper
to have your child play a full season. The fee includes
the registration fee to AYSO National,
Supplemental Accident Insurance coverage,
a full uniform (shirt, shorts, & socks), and a trophy.
Thank you!!

In order to make sure we have a FUN, FAIR, and SAFE season, here are a few reminders:

(1) NO PETS ALLOWED!! For every ones safety, no pets of any kind will be allowed at any scheduled AYSO practice or game. Those who do bring pets will be asked to leave the field, take it to their car, or take it home. Coaches and referees are to help enforce this rule.

(2) No Smoking will be allowed at any scheduled AYSO practice or game.

(3) The Regional Board of Directors has adopted AYSO's Kids Zone program. All of the parents will have signed a Kids Zone Pledge Form when they registered their children to play. So, good behavior from the sidelines will be expected at all times.

(4) Every coach and assistant coach will be receiving a t-shirt that we, the Regional Board of Directors, are encouraging you to wear at EVERY game. The message to help enforce the concepts of the Kids Zone Program will be: I Coach, They Play, You Cheer!!

(5) Please remember that all of the referees are volunteers just like you and they are to be treated respectfully. In soccer, it is the referee's job to keep the game flowing fairly and safely, not to call every little foul. Soccer is a "players game" not a "coaches game".

(6) Please keep in mind that AYSO Soccer is mainly a recreational and learning league not a competitive "win at all costs" league. Although it is nice to win, that is not what we should focus on. We need to make sure the kids are learning the game of soccer while still having FUN whether they win or lose the game.

(7) Bad weather: All games are to be played even if it rains. Referees and/or coaches (at the field) may cancel a game before it starts or in the progress of playing in there are any signs of lightning or chance of a tornado. Otherwise, games will only be canceled by me or one of the other Board Members. ***As of September 18, 2006, Region 512 now has a "Bad Weather" hotline that will have updated messages concerning bad weather and game cancellations. The Bad Weather Hotline number is (810)730-1144. This phone line will NOT be answered, it is for information only.

(If you have any problems, questions, or concerns; please call our Hotline at (810)730-2585
I hope everyone has a GREAT season and I look forward to seeing you out on the fields.

Thank You,

Ron Mills
Regional Commissioner

**SEVERE WEATHER POLICY FOR REGION 512**

It will be the policy of this region to conduct practices and games in all weather conditions except when the following conditions exist: (1)Any signs of lightening, (2)An issued Severe Thunderstorm Warning, (3)An issued Tornado Watch or Warning, (4)Severe Cold Temperatures, and (5)Any other severe weather condition the Commissioner considers would endanger our players or volunteers. ALL GAMES will be played unless they are cancelled by the Commissioner (or other designee)or if prior arrangements and approval are sought and granted. ANY cancelled games MUST be rescheduled. Coaches have the option of cancelling practices due to inclimate weather (cold, snow, rain, etc.), but please be sure to contact all of the players on your team of this decision. Bad Weather updates will be posted (as quickly as possible) in the orange banner at the top of this web page. When all else fails, please use your best judgement and common sense; keeping the safety of our players as your TOP PRIORITY

Soccer tip - Negative space
When pressed by the opposing team
think BEHIND YOU. The use of negative
space separates the good teams from the
very good teams. Pass behind you and
use the change in the other teams focus
to find open space to be ready for the
pass so you can continue the attack.
Kids Zone
kids zoneThere is sometimes confusion over what "Kids Zone" means in reference to AYSO.

The Kids Zone program was created in response to concerns that sometimes youth sports have become negative--even violent--in the past. It is a gentle reminder that while competition is important, ultimately AYSO is about the kids.

Kids play sports are to have fun, make new friends and learn new skills. As coaches, parents and volunteers, we need to keep sport in its proper perspective and support them.

That means redefining what it is to be a “Winner.” A Winner is more than just scoring the goal or beating the other team; a winner is someone who makes maximum effort, continues to learn and improve, and does not let mistakes, or fear of making mistakes, stop him or her.
